Canelo-Khan Stats Look Even, Until You Realise Khan Is Fighting Two Weight Classes Higher

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Amir Khan looks like a pretty even match-up if you take a look at their pre-fight stats. But if you factor in the fact that Khan is moving up two weight classes for this bout, then you begin to realize that this may not be close at all.

Khan is a +43.2 in total punches thrown. If you plug in his 31.7% connect percentage, then that's just an additional of 13.7 punches landed. Will that extra output against a man two weight classes bigger make a difference? Maybe not, and the bigger Canelo might just walk right through his punches to land his own. But the bigger question here is if Khan can still throw as much with the added weight. Amir's best chance of beating Alvarez is if he outpoints him. But if Khan gets out gunned by Canelo in punch output, then it's pretty much over. Point here is that Khan doesn't seem to have the high output to neutralize Canelo's size.

Second point here is that if Khan is used to seeing 334.2 punches per fight from his prevoous opponents, how will he fare against a heavier man like Canelo who throws 111.6 more than that per bout? Amir Khan has a notorious glass jaw. Against an opponent like Canelo who throws more than what Khan's usually seen before, will Khan remain on his feet?
