Golovkin's Knockouts Are More Than Just The Power in His Punches

Gennady Golovkin knocked out Dominc Wade. That was expected to say the least. But Golovkin didn't just knock Wade out with a single punch, he did so with his trademark pressure and volume punching.

After cracking Wade with a solid right hand at the start of round 2, he dropped him with another crushing right that sent Wade down on all fours. Wade barely beat the count and from there it was just a matter of time. Moments later, GGG uncorked another right hand that sent Wade to the canvass agan, this time it was  for good as Jack Reiss counted him out.

Golovkin went at Wade right from the get go, outlanding him 30-10 total punches in round 1. He then upped the pressure in Round 2 with another 24 punches landed as compared to Wade's 12.

GGG doesn't rely just on his power punches. Although he outlanded Wade 30-14 in that statistical department, he also outjabbed Wade 24-8. He also varied his attack, landing 44 shots to the head and 10 to the body while Wade went almost exclusively head hunting with 21 of his 22 punches landed to GGG's head.

Golovkin owns the highest KO ratio in middleweight championship history at .914. And although he has legit one punch KO power, Golovkin's knockouts have also been the product of the pressure he puts on his opponent and the volume of punches he throws at them.
