As Talks Collapse Again, Kell Brook Tells Amir Khan: Who Da [email protected] Is That Guy!

Who da fook is that guy?

That was the famous line MMA superstar Conor McGregor uttered during a press conference last year. Well that was also IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook's reaction to fellow Brit Amir Khan's claim that he ( Khan ) is the 'A-side' in the negotiations between them:

On the other hand, Khan's tweet was in reaction to Brook's trainer Eddie Hearn who earlier tweeted that they didn't want to fight Khan at a 70-30 split in favor of the latter.

The two popular British fighters have been going at each other for years now but until now they haven't met inside the boxing ring. And now, the latest attempt to make that happen has once again collapsed.

A meeting between both camps last week resulted in a disagreement in the purse split. Hearn claimed Khan asked for a 70-30 split and refused a 50-50 offer to fight in May. On the other hand, Khan said he offered Brook more than the £2.4 million he made for fighting Gennady Golovkin in 2016.

With both camps hitting yet another road block,  Brook will now have to decide between facing mandatory challenger Errol Spence or give up the belt and move up to the next division. By the way he sounded in his most recent interviews, Brook could be moving up to 154 rather than face Spence whom he says isn't a 'name big enough' for him to face.

Meanwhile, Khan is now expected to take a tune-up fight in April before going back to the discussion table with Brook later this year or face the winner of Thurman-Garcia. Khan is the #1 contender for the WBC belt which One Time and Swift will dispute in their title unification bout this March.

The Bolton boxer explained his side of the story to UK TV on Monday morning. Said Khan:

"My team sat down with Brook and his manager, we tried to make the fight and Brook said he doesn't want the fight, so it's not happening. I want the fight and Brook has just walked away from it; he doesn't want it. I was getting the blame for not taking the fight, and now when I've said 'yes, I'll take the fight', Brook has stepped back and made excuses."

You can't blame Amir Khan for believing he is the A-side in their talks. He's been the more popular fighter recently for the wrong reasons. Now that the potential blockbuser fight with Brook is off ( for now ), Skype's the limit for Amir Khan.
