Terence Crawford: I Didn’t Ask $7M For Pacman Bout

It didn't take long for Terence Crawford to clear the air. He didn’t demand $7M to fight Manny Pacquiao.

Responding via Twitter, Omaha's pride replied:

Crawford then turned the tables on Pacquiao with another tweet, this time hinting that it was Pacman who priced himself out:

Days earlier, Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach told a group of reporters in New York that Crawford supposedly asked for $7M to fight the Filipino fighting senator. That demand reportedly caused the fall-out of the negotiations for a Pac-Bud fight. But it appears, that is not the case.

Crawford’s claims were supported by Top Rank boss Bob Arum who clarified that he never mentioned any figures to Roach when they talked. Arum even said that they never presented the fight to Crawford in the first place. Said Arum via Boxingscene.com:

“I never mentioned anything to Freddie about what Crawford wanted. We never even presented the fight to Crawford. Crawford didn’t ask me for five cents. We never talked about it. [Top Rank president] Todd [duBoef] never talked to him about it.”

Crawford was widely viewed as Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent after he beat Viktor Postol in what was considered as an ‘audition’ bout. However, Pacquiao went on to fight Jessie Vargas in November. Crawford settled for John Molina last month and won by TKO.
