Official Weights: Keith Thurman 146.25, Danny Garcia 146.5

If the final face-off and staredown were any indication, we're gonna see a war on Saturday night.

Keith Thurman tipped the scales at 146.25 pounds while Danny Garcia weighed in at 146.5  That meant the fight was on but the day didn't end there. As the fighters proceeded to the ceremonial face-off, emotions started to show.

Then the fighters stared each other down, went nose to nose and then got into a heated exchange of trash talking. Cooler heads prevailed though and the fighters were separated. Thurman broke into a smile of sorts when they posed afterwards while Garcia kept his game face on.

Said Thurman during the interview:

“For me, it’s 21 years in the game, man. This is my dream coming true. I’ve been boxing since I was 7 years old. I put my heart, I put my soul into it. Y’all saw how I fought the last time I was up in this arena, man [against Shawn Porter]. It ain’t easy to take that belt from me. It ain’t easy. And Danny Garcia’s not doing that tomorrow night.”

Garcia meanwhile had this to say:

“I’m a true champion and true champions take on anybody. He’s saying he’s one of the best at welterweight. Well, I feel like I’m the best welterweight in the world. And tomorrow I’m gonna show why I’m one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.”
